Horizon Europe Ireland - January update

Happy New Year!
As we kick off year four of Horizon Europe, Ireland's drawdown is €628.6m with 380 Irish organisations participating in 957 projects. There are a busy few months ahead, with calls opening and looming deadlines. We have the European Innovation Council (EIC) Work Programme info day firmly pencilled in our diaries next week on 15 January followed by a dedicated EIC Accelerator Challenges info session on 16 January. We are also looking forward to hearing more about the European Research and Innovation Days 2024 which will take place both physically in Brussels and online on 20 and 21 March.

Our National Delegate for Horizon Europe Cluster 5 Mobility, Bob Flynn, is currently in Washington to promote the Horizon Europe-funded Transport Research Arena (TRA) Conference which is taking place in Dublin for the first time ever in April of this year.

You can read all about it in this Sunday Independent article and Bob provides further updates below. Registration is now open - we hope to see you there, particularly for the Horizon Europe brokerage event.

New case studies
This month, we have two new case studies to share with you. For Tony McEnroe, CEO of SiriusXT, funding was not the main reason for getting involved with Horizon Europe - you can read about his experience below along with the partnership success story of MTU and Irish SME Klas who ended up working on two Horizon 2020 projects together.

National Delegate and National Contact Point (NCP) updates:
As well as Bob Flynn's update, our Space NCP Padraig Doolan provides information on the topics open under the remaining Space calls with deadlines in February and March. NCP for Legal and Financial Rules and Programme Manager for the Enterprise Ireland Horizon Europe financial Supports Brigid Burke gives an update on the proposal-preparation grants available with some tips on avoiding errors in applications. Find these articles further below.

Watch out too for the dedicated Cluster 1 Health newsletter which will be landing in your inboxes this afternoon!
