Horizon Europe Ireland - February update

Springing into action...
February has ushered in plenty of activity for the National Support Network team with calls closing, proposal reviews, webinars and several face-to-face meetings taking place in Brussels over the coming months. The team is also preparing for our first 2024 meeting with the Research Offices next week at Enterprise Ireland's Dublin office - 'Ethics and AI in proposal preparation' as well as the 2025 work programmes will be among the topics up for discussion and National Contact Points will be available for one-to-one meetings.

Horizon Dashboard
The latest update to the Horizon Dashboard reveals that almost 400 Irish entities are currently participating in Horizon Europe projects amounting to more than €664m in funding for Ireland - while the individual funding awards vary significantly, that's currently an average of €1.7m per participant!

From academia to industry
Our latest case study looks at how Dr Robert Radford benefited from a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowship (MSCA-IF) - he moved home to Ireland from the US to undertake research work at Nuritas in Dublin to tackle age-related muscle loss. You can read his story further below.

The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions have published the indicative calendar of calls for proposals for 2024 with more than €1.23 billion to support researchers from all over the world - find out more here.

Updates from the National Support Network team:
In this month's newsletter, National Contact Point (NCP) Gerard Kennedy covers upcoming calls under Cluster 4 Digital topics, the Smart Networks and Services Joint Undertaking (SNS JU), Joint Research Centre and the Digital Europe Programme. NCP James Walsh has all the latest on the European Innovation Council (EIC) programme and NCP for Cluster 1 Health, Martha Cahill, tackles the subject of  "AI Algorithms as medical devices".
