Horizon Europe - March update

Over the last few weeks, National Delegates and National Contact Points from Ireland's National Support Network have been busily traversing the highways and byways of the country for events and face-to-face meetings promoting Horizon Europe opportunities - happily, we've come a long way since this time last year when we were cautiously emerging from the Covid-19 pandemic!

Horizon Dashboard - Ireland's performance
According to the European Commission's Horizon Dashboard, Ireland has won €335.7m in Horizon Europe funding to date - we're also enjoying a higher-than-average success rate with one in five proposals getting funding (21.4% of proposals - the average is 16.6%). Another interesting stat is that Ireland participants have signed one in every 10 Horizon Europe grants - 522 grants in total. There are 209 Irish SMEs involved in projects which is 30% of Ireland’s participation in Horizon Europe.

Gender Equality Champions

All three universities are led by a female president. The awards were presented by Mariya Gabriel, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth (pictured above) with each winner receiving €100k. Read more here.
