The ERC Scientific Council and its President and Chair, Professor Maria Leptin, at the invitation of Minister James Lawless, will convene in Dublin from 23–25 June 2026, just days before Ireland’s tenure of the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Research Ireland will host a forum on Wednesday, 24 June, celebrating the impact of ERC-funded research in Ireland and bringing together leading voices to discuss the future of European research, science and innovation. A central feature of the afternoon will be contributions from ERC awardees based in Ireland, reflecting the full breadth of scholarship across the arts, humanities, social sciences and scientific disciplines, and underscoring the far-reaching impact of ERC-funded research in Ireland.

Two supports for women-led start ups in deep tech
A total of 160 talented women entrepreneurs from across the European Union and Horizon Europe-associated countries will be supported via four calls under the Women TechEU 2 EIC programme, an EU-funded initiative supporting women-led early-stage deep tech startups across Europe. It offers €75,000 in non-dilutive funding alongside tailored mentoring, coaching, and training. The call opened on 1 June and follows a two-stage process beginning with an eligibility check and weekly cut-offs. Successful applicants gain funding and expert support, helping them scale innovative solutions and strengthen the role of women entrepreneurs in Europe’s technology landscape. First cut-off date is 30 June - more info here.

Also for women-led deep tech start ups, the
SCALE’HER Accelerator offers a 100% free, fully online programme combining interactive workshops, expert webinars, one-to-one mentoring, peer learning, a blind pitch competition, and investor exposure. Applications for the second cohort are now open until 30 June 2026, offering another opportunity for participants to access tailored support and accelerate their growth. Get the details here.
