EIC Accelerator
Cork-based diagnostics company Altratech is the latest Irish company to announce that they have been approved for a recommended investment of €10.5m from the European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator. Ireland has a strong record of attracting EIC Accelerator funding with 26 Irish companies awarded both grant and equity since 2021 alone and ranks at number eight out of 30 successful countries in terms of number of companies and funding awarded.
In total, Irish deep-tech companies and the Irish research community have been recommended almost €200 million in grant in equity funding in the last 3 years.
EIC Info Day for newcomers
Continuing to build on Ireland's success, EIC National Contact Points James Walsh and David Flood held an info day yesterday at Enterprise Ireland covering the recently adopted EIC 2025 work programme.
More than 150 potential applicants attended the event which included a panel session and presentations from industry experts covering EIC Accelerator, Pathfinder and Transition opportunities.
ERC Synergy Grants for Ireland This week, 201 researchers have added "ERC Synergy Grant Awardee" to their lists of achievements. Among them are two women researchers from Trinity College Dublin and UCD - big congratulations to Trinity's Ruth Britto and UCD's Nicola Fletcher!
Notably, nearly a third of the winning researchers this year were women which is the highest proportion since the programme began. For more details, check out this article in Silicon Republic. EU-funding success story series This month's success story focuses on a pre-commercial procurement (PCP) project funded under Horizon 2020 involving the National Rehabilitation Hospital. Launched in 2021, the EU-funded Remote Rehabilitation Service for Isolated Areas (ROSIA) project secured €1.7m with the aim of delivering rehabilitation services to patients in need, wherever they are, including the management of their own rehabilitation at home. The Cluster 4 work programme funds competitive and trusted research and innovation in key areas such as discrete and continuous manufacturing and engineering, digitalisation of the construction sector and energy-intensive industries.

2024 has been the most successful year for Ireland so far under the Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society programme area. 24 Irish participations from a total of 18 different projects have been awarded a total of €7,342,632*, taking Ireland’s drawdown under the Cluster to just under €25 million.
The deadline in February saw a total of 708 proposals submitted to 28 thematic calls, with results announced over the summer. Read the details in Patrick's article here.
