Ireland's performance in Horizon Europe - latest figures The European Commission published its second update of the Horizon Dashboard for 2026 on Friday - €53.53bn of Horizon Europe's €93.5bn budget has now been awarded to projects across 145 countries globally. Ireland has secured €1.08bn (2.02%) of that funding with 555 Irish organisations participating in 1,628 projects. With just over a year and a half left in the programme as well as a further €39bn still to be allocated, significant opportunities remain - now is the time to get involved! Horizon Implementation Day An in-person Horizon Implementation Day will take place in Dublin on Thursday, 18 June with European Commission representatives in attendance. The agenda will be focused on Novelties in the 2026-2027 Horizon Europe work programme and will cover topics such as simplification, news on lump sum funding, how to manage Horizon Europe grants, preparing for a financial audit and bringing research results to market. There will be a limited number of spaces so this will be an invitation-only event - more details to follow. Australia to begin association negotiations As the EU and Australia move to reinforce close relations, they have agreed to launch formal negotiations for the association of Australia to Horizon Europe. "We are sending a strong signal to the rest of the world that friendship and cooperation is what matters most in times of turbulence", said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. Switzerland, Egypt and the Republic of Korea (Pillar Two only) are the most recently associated countries to Horizon Europe - you can find the up-to-date list of associated countries here.
